Holly Foust

Holly Foust

I’ve known Holly for more then 15 years. We met because we started going to the same school the same week. The teacher didn’t know what to do with two new students, so we were seated beside each other. We became fast friends. Both of us had a strong since of self and we didn’t care much what anyone else had to say about that.

Holly was my ultimate partner in crime. She’s one of those people whom I couldn’t call if I was sitting in prison, because she’d be sitting next to me trying to figure out how to explain it to our husbands or parents. Though that’s never happened, that’s just how close we are. In health class Holly almost always fell asleep and I almost always got the hick ups. Just as the hick ups started I would reach over and kick Holly’s leg which jerked her awake, of course looking guilty, she took the blame for my problem. Awe, the good old days! I suppose the record should also show that Holly was the first to warn me about my infamous ex. She knew us both in high school and the record should also note that she introduced us. It’s all good though, she’s been a great support in my original fears about getting into a relationship with Rob.

Advice on Romance:

“Who cares what happens later? You enjoy his company, you’re obviously happy and you deserve a distraction. Get to know him, he might be alright.”

Holly and I have had similar but different life experiences and I like to think we’ve both helped one another out at different times of need.

Quotes by Holly in a time of crisis:

”When God closes a door he opens a window, start looking for a breeze and you’ll be fine.”

“Sure you know what REAL is, you’ve been real your whole life.”

After years not hearing from her, I could call her parents and get her email address, home address, phone number and work hours if she was working out of the home. This is part of why and how we’ve managed to stay friends for so long. When Katie asks if I have any friends, I tell her, I don’t need a lot of friends ‘because one great friend is better then several friends without a clue.

I have to agree with Holly’s thoughts on friendship:

“It is nice to have a friend that goes back that far! After all you now have known me through a lot of my stupid years, so you can always help me remember not to repeat them! New friends never get all that!” EXACTLY!!!
